What is Acupressure?

Jin Shin Do® is the closest thing to magic I have seen in bodywork.

What is Acupressure?

“Acupressure is a way of accessing and releasing blocked or congested energy centers in the body. These energy centers or Acupoints are on energy pathways called Meridians. When acupoints or meridians become blocked or congested you experience pain or discomfort on a physical level. On an emotional level you may become frustrated or irritable, and on a spirit (energetic) level you may experience a sense of feeling ungrounded, vulnerable, and have difficulty knowing your purpose in life.

By using deep but gentle finger pressure on specific acupoints the blocked energy starts to release, allowing your body/mind to relax. As your body/mind relaxes, you have an opportunity to explore thought patterns, memories, and belief systems. Through mindful exploration, the way you experience your universe can change, allowing you an opportunity to manifest your purpose in life with less discomfort and stress; with a greater sense of wellbeing.”

Paul Rouleau

I feel more grounded, happy and whole after my sessions …
As a result, I have developed a healthier relationship
with myself and the world.

Thank you for your interest in the British Columbia Acupressure Therapists’ Association, the BCATA.
The BCATA was registered in accordance with the province of British Columbia’s Societies Act in 1991 and has three categories of membership:

  • Student ($35.00/Yr) – Non-Voting
  • Practitioner ($100.00/Yr)
  • Teacher ($100.00/Yr)

Membership in the BCATA requires registration with the Jin Shin Do® Foundation.

You can become a member of the Jin Shin Do ® Foundation by taking any Jin Shin Do® Practitioner Training course (For descriptions of courses, click HERE ) as offered by Authorized Jin Shin Do® Teachers (for a list of BCATA Teacher / Practitioners, click HERE)

Criteria for membership can be found in the Membership Section of our Constitution document in PDF format by clicking HERE.

Curriculum suggestions to fulfill the new 525 hour requirement modified at the Oct 2005 AGM can be found by Clicking HERE

Please note section 1.4 that states “Members who have graduated from trademarked or authorised programs must be in compliance with all registration or licensing requirements of that program.”

For instance, this means that students graduating from an Acupressure College licensed by the Jin Shin Do® Foundation to teach the Jin Shin Do® Program are doing so through a licensed institution and program, and as such, must abide by the rules of the license holder, namely the Jin Shin Do® Foundation.

For this reason, section 1.4 of the By-laws applies and membership in the BCATA requires registration with the Jin Shin Do ® Foundation.

The same holds true for anyone graduating from any other trademarked or licensed program (i.e. a non Jin Shin Do ® modality), regardless of which school handled the program from which the individual graduated.

Student Membership is non-voting and requires that the student be enrolled in an approved acupressure program.
